Aspen Highlands serves as the high-consequence alternative to the more manicured slopes of Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. It is primarily engineered for expert skiers who prioritize the 800-vertical-foot hike to Highland Peak and the uncrowded, fall-line descents of Steeplechase over high-end shopping or beginner terrain.
The Strap Hack: Do not attempt to hike the Highland Bowl by carrying your skis in your arms; it is a 45-minute slog that requires free hands for balance on the narrow ridge. If you dont own a ski-carry backpack, visit the Highlands Patrol Headquarters at the top of the Loge Peak lift. They sell specialized Bowl Straps for around $10–$15. Expert Warning: The free snowcat only cuts 15 minutes off the hike and does not take you to the summit. If you want the G-Zone stashes, you must finish the hike on foot.
